Adrian Vladimir, Author, Sci-Fi Stories With a Stab of Horror - Text is laid over a space background featuring stars and lightning.

Dear Reader,

Welcome to adrianvlad.com.

I write sci-fi adventure stories with a stab of horror for readers yearning to escape the boring, the monotonous, and the everyday. My tales will transport you to realities both thrilling and strange.

Why am I doing this?

Well, I’m doing it for you (mostly) because I love entertaining people with my stories. It’s deeply satisfying to pen a tale and then hear people say something like, “Wow, that was really good.”

It means they felt something. It means I helped them escape from the everyday.

I want you to feel what I feel whenever I finish a good book—illuminated by imagination. Uplifted, thrilled, and entertained. And so many more emotions.

That’s what this website, this blog, and my stories are all about—harnessing my imagination into evocative tales.

The other reason is a selfish one.

Writing stories stimulates me in ways nothing else does. The rush of creation is a kind of therapy. The Church of the Story, if you will; the gospel is the words that flow from imagination to story to illumination.

Everyone has their temple.

Writing stories is mine.

Fast Facts About Adrian Vladimir

Who am I, anyway?

  • I’m a middle-aged guy on the outside and a child of wonder on the inside.

  • I love learning new things.

  • I have an affinity for space, the paranormal, ancient civilizations, conspiracies, and technology.

  • I’m a family man.

  • I love animals.

  • I believe life is sacred and we’re doing a terrible job as shepherds of our little blue marble.

  • Also, reality is fluid and, in some places, thin.

  • I’m terrified of publishing. There, I said it. I always have been, but I do it anyway because it’s thrilling and gratifying to entertain readers.

A Not-So-Fast Fact About Adrian Vladimir

I have a confession to make.

Sometimes, I “dog ear” the pages of whatever book I’m reading instead of using a bookmark—even library books. I hear your gasp of horror.

There’s a totally irrational reason for it, and it’s this: a book ought to feel read, an author’s vision absorbed, engaged with, and felt.

Imagination is a temple, and temples shouldn’t be sterile.

There’s something lonely about a book with crisp pages, a shiny dust jacket, and worlds untraveled. This is especially true of older books.

You know the type.

There’s one copy in the library that was published decades ago, and it’s on the edge of being weeded out, even though it might be great.

Weeding.

That’s the term for library books that get sent to the recycling bin, excommunicated to the free books cart, or sliced and diced into questionable art pieces at library craft events.

A book is imagination, and imagination is life. Without it, the future cannot exist.

So, I dog ear, but never ever across the text. I wouldn’t dare.

My irrational belief is that when the next reader comes along and sees the wear and tear, they’ll know that the book in their hands was read, that it lived, and that for someone somewhere, that book was worth the time it took to create, so now it’s worth their time to read it.

In a way, I’m saving lives.

Anyway, you’ve reached the end, but it’s not THE END.

All endings are a beginning, and all beginnings are an end, so let’s begin again: welcome to my imagination, dear reader …
